PAYC History
1965
Articles of Incorporation creating Port Arthur Yacht Club, Inc. were signed by 24 charter members on May 18.
1974
Under the direction of Commodore Dan Murphy and through the generosity of George Lohmann, PAYC financed significant improvements to the Pleasure Island Marina.
1974
PAYC secured a 40-year lease from the City of Port Arthur for two fingers in the marina.
1977
PAYC sold debentures to members to construct a $100,000 clubhouse.
1996
The "Aloha Hut" was replaced with a metal-roofed screenhouse.
2005
Hurricane Rita hit Port Arthur and caused significant damage to the marina infrastructure.
2008
Hurricane Ike hit Port Arthur and caused more damage to the marina infrastructure.
